News - 15 Years of YOO
YOO marked the occasion of its 15th birthday this week with a glittering event held at an iconic London venue. The celebrations were attended by an array of clients, past and present, renowned designers, family and friends.
Guests were greeted on arrival with a trip down memory lane - an inspiring and entertaining journey through 15 years of extraordinary living spaces and successful global projects.
Select pieces from the new YOO Home collections, available exclusively at Harrods, lined the entrance to the venue for guests to admire and enjoy before entering the main hall.
Over 200 guests attended the event, including YOO founders John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck and their wives Phoebe Vela Hitchcox, and Jasmine Starck. Jade Jagger, creative director of Jade Jagger for YOO was also in attendance along with her design partner, Thomas Bartlett and the YOO Studio team. We were also delighted to welcome Maxime Lachance, President of Constructions Chapam, as well as Sabri Yiğit of Say Yapi, and members of the Mar Yapi team from Turkey. Sean Dare, owner of Dare Studios, and designer John Male also joined the festivities.

Guests were treated to cocktails, canapés and music, while surrounded by stunning views of the London nightscape on all sides.
John and Philippe displayed their true affections for YOO (and each other!), discussing their inspiration for and pride in the continuing growth of YOO from its beginnings 15 years ago.
Describing the initial concept behind YOO, John reiterated that it is all about people. “Philippe designed all of these beautiful objects and I thought we should bring all of these into buildings, and work with great developers around the world to help people design their interiors.” His thoughts were echoed by Philippe Starck who commented, “We started with the name, YOO. This means the company was not created for us, it was for you. It was clear.”
