News - 20 of the best at The Lakes
With winter really biting at the moment, we’re cheering ourselves up with twenty of the best photographic moments at The Lakes from 2013. What better time than midwinter to reminisce about sultry days gone by, and talk to resident ecology expert, Ben Pollard…
“The most noticeable things recently, for me,” says Ben, “have been the birds stirring with noticeably more birdsong, and the change in the angle of sunlight. Whilst we are still in winter, the light has changed and the sun feels warmer on the skin, as it is now a little higher in the sky. Gradually we’re finding signs of the earliest hints of spring, with hazel catkins bursting forth, and soon we should be finding Lesser Celandine, Lords-and-Ladies (Cuckoo Pint), Coltsfoot and Violets in flower. It's always a lovely time of year, as we wait patiently for life to awaken from its deep and gentle slumber.”
Beautiful! Let’s hope sunny skies and a bit of warm weather aren’t too far away.
